Alumni involvement in the National Board directly impacts Alpha Pi Sigma's future direction and success directly impacts the sorority's future direction and successor of a sorority. It holds tremendous value, as it provides an opportunity for them to contribute their expertise, passion, and unique perspective to the organization that played a significant role in shaping their lives. By joining the National Board, Alumni can actively participate in decision-making processes, strategic planning, and policy development, enabling them to have a direct impact on the future direction and success of the sorority. Their experiences as former members offer invaluable insights into current members' needs, aspirations, and challenges, facilitating the creation of inclusive initiatives, mentorship programs, and career development opportunities. Alumni board members can also foster strong connections between the sorority and the wider community, leveraging their professional networks, advocating for the sorority's values, and promoting its positive impact on individuals and society as a whole. Overall, serving on the National Board allows Alumni to give back to the organization that shaped them while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations of members.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

PRESIDENT - 2-year term​

  1. Serve a minimum of one consecutive year as a National Board member prior to their presidential term.

  2. Official representative of the National Board, oversees the operation of the National Board.

  3. Responsible for the accountability of board members.

  4. Responsible for establishing all following meetings: National Board Retreat, 

  5. Physical Meeting, Annual convention, and monthly meetings.

  6. Responsible for creating and distributing a document of expectations for chapters
    hosting Physical meetings and their responsibilities.

  7. Responsible for leading meetings.

  8. Responsible for sending the National Physical Meeting Itinerary one month prior to the meeting.

  9. Generate official letters from the National Board.

  10. President shall have signing authority for all National Board financial accounts.

  11. Has the authority to appoint special committees as necessary and call special meetings as needed.

  12. Be the official representative to all NALFO meetings.

  13. Must send a monthly report to the Advisory Chair with updates and questions for guidance.

  14. President must provide an end of year report to send out to membership.
    i. Letter from the President
    ii. Acknowledgement of each Director
    iii. New/Changes to Board
    iv. Membership Numbers
    v. Finances
    vi. Changes, Improvements, and Updates the Board voted in or implemented
    vii. Pending tasks

  15. Responsible for submitting all receipts and expenditures to Financier within 24 hours.

**Must have served at least one consecutive year as a National Board member prior to their presidential term.

Administrative Administrator -2 year term

  1. Keep detailed weekly business meeting minutes.

  2. Responsible for taking minutes at all National Board Meetings.

  3. Distribute meeting minutes within (1) week of meeting or conference to National Board members.

  4. Responsible for archiving all National Board and chapter minutes and newsletters.

  5. Responsible for maintaining and updating the National Board roster.

  6. Responsible for keeping attendance.

  7. Responsible for sending an agenda for Retreat, Physical Meeting, and Convention one week prior to the meeting.

​DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS - 1 year term

  • Establish and maintain contacts and resources.

  • Serve as spokesperson/press secretary.

  • Responsible for networking information

  • Generate press releases for National Board activities

  • Provide press release templates to Chapters and Alumnae Association

  • Collect and archive press releases from Chapters and Alumnae Association.

  • Update email newsletter server

  • Email monthly National Board newsletter to sisters

  • Maintain and update AlphaPiSigma.org account.

Financier - 1 year term​

  1. Draft and submit yearly budgets for the approval of the National Board, and make a current version available to board members.

  2. Filing federal and state taxes for the sorority.

  3. Maintaining the sorority’s tax-exempt status, and keeping the sorority’s bank accounts and electronic files in order, on a yearly basis.

  4. Keeping a record of receipts and expenditures.

  5. Responsible for establishing and maintaining scholarships.

  6. Approving event budgets and keeping expenditure on track with yearly plans.

  7. Archive all treasury accounts and records for the past seven (7) years.

  8. Responsible for coordinating National Board Fundraisers.

  9. Responsible for collecting chapter dues.

  10. Responsible for notifying chapters about fines and collecting fines.

  11. Physically responsible for all National Board financial accounts.

  12. Responsible for reviewing Alumnae Association financial accounts.

  13. Responsible for maintaining records of all chapter’s financial account balances.

DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP - 2 year term

  • Present intake and risk management workshops at Annual Physical Meeting and National Convention.

  • Revise and clarify intake program guidelines.

  • Be the primary contact for the Chapters’ Intake Coordinator.

  • Make formal presentations to membership, as necessary.

  • Keep an updated calendar of every chapter’s infinite process.

​DIRECTOR OF EXPANSION (Midwest) - 2 year term

  • Develop, update and oversee the expansion process.

  • Develop, update and oversee an Expansion Manual to be updated annually.

  • Primary contact for interested parties.

  • Responsible for providing interest group packet and for arranging an informational presentation to interested parties.

  • Responsible for following and documenting progress of interest group.

  • Responsible for reporting status of each interest group to the National Board.

  • Responsible for arranging intake process, this includes working with the Director of Membership.

  • Responsible for transitioning new chapters after recognition of establishment by the sorority.

​DIRECTOR OF CHAPTER SERVICES - 1 year term

  • Plan and organize National Day of Service.

  • Inform all sisters of philanthropies and community service events on campus.

  • Collect community service hours from all chapters.

  • Approve all chapter events including fundraisers and social events.

  • Plan, execute, and record attendance for at least two philanthropic events per year.

  • Serve as Annual Convention Chair and responsible for all aspects of Annual Convention with participation of board members. 

​DIRECTOR OF EXPANSION (West) - 2 years term

  • Develop, update and oversee the expansion process.

  • Develop, update and oversee an Expansion Manual to be updated annually.

  • Primary contact for interested parties.

  • Responsible for providing interest group packet and for arranging an informational presentation to interested parties.

  • Responsible for following and documenting progress of interest group.

  • Responsible for reporting status of each interest group to the National Board.

  • Responsible for arranging intake process, this includes working with the Director of Membership.

  • Responsible for transitioning new chapters after recognition of establishment by the sorority.

​DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS- 1 year term​

  • Collect and maintain an updated database of Alumni contact information.

  • Initiate and maintain correspondence with Alumni.

  • Foster Alumni relations with each other and with the chapters.

  • Responsible for collecting dues from Alumni Association members.

  • Responsible for facilitating/planning Alumni Association meetings.

  • Responsible for sending out Alumni Association meeting minutes to Alumni Association members.

  • Responsible for keeping a Calendar of Events.

  • Responsible for sending Alumni newsletters to Aumni.

  • Responsible for recruiting Alumni to the Alumni Association

​DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - 1 year term​

  • Create and maintain national partnerships and sponsorship.

  • Assist chapter fundraising chairs.

  • Be responsible for overseeing scholarship program.

  • Be responsible for overseeing the internship program.

  • Maintain and ensure proper branding, copyrights, trademarking, and royalties.

  • Assist Director of Finance in her duties as assigned
